2011 National Call for Unity

Tuesday October 4, 2011, 2:00 p.m. Central time

On this free, 45-minute national call, we’ll hear from survivors, advocates, national experts, and government officials working to end domestic and sexual violence. Together, we’ll share in a collective moment of silence for all the women, children, and men who have lost their lives to intimate partner violence and we’ll hear a dramatic recitation from nationally-renowned spoken word artists Sunni Patterson and Asia Rainey.

You can join the call from anywhere – at the office, from the shelter, from your home, at school, on your cell phone, or via Skype; however you must register to get the call-in information. To register, click here.

Hosted by the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, National Network to End Domestic Violence, and Casa De Esperanza.

Go Purple Day, Friday October 14

Join the Texas Council on Family Violence in observing Friday October 14, 2011 as Go Purple Day.  Wear purple to work on the 14th.  Once you have your purple on, consider posing for some photos.  Add a message about Go Purple Day to your website or facebook page.  Make or buy and then deliver some purple food for your community partners.  Consider thanking them for their efforts and ask them to continue to Go Purple everyday.  We encourage you to Go Purple in your own way, whether it is on Go Purple Day or any other point during DVAM or the upcoming year.
