TCFV is excited to announce the return of our signature prevention-focused event, Make It Real. The theme of this year’s conference will be Building a Community Through Reflection.
Because prevention work is among the newer initiatives of many domestic violence programs, there are still a lot of questions waiting to be answered. Which is more important: speaking at as many schools as possible or preparing the best curriculum? How do we measure progress? How can we tell if we’re being effective? How do we balance the demands of donors with the needs of the community? The conference attempts to answer these questions and empower attendees with tools and techniques to better conduct their work.
The conference will feature many leaders in the prevention field. Presenters will include speakers form Close 2 Home, an innovative prevention program with a focus on neighborhood. We are also excited to have Sisters of Color United from Denver speak about their youth led mural projects. SafeHaven will discuss their unique approach of ending domestic violence one zip code at a time. The interactive theater group Voices Against Violence will perform and present workshops on how they incorporate prevention into their art.
We hope this conference provides attendees the chance to review their current work approach and set goals for the future.
