JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:  STAFF ATTORNEY

 

Eastland County Crisis Center, located in Eastland, Texas, is seeking a licensed attorney to practice civil law for ECCC clients.  The ideal candidate should have an understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse issues. 

 

EASTLAND COUNTY CRISIS CENTER PROGRAMS & MISSION:  The mission of the Crime Victims Assistance Center is to provide services designed to meet the physical, social, & emotional needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims by providing immediate, short, and long-term assistance.

The mission of the Children’s Advocacy Center is to serve as the voice of justice, hope, and healing for children and to provide a warm, caring atmosphere where their healing process can begin.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  The staff attorney is a professional position that practices civil law for eligible clients (victims of domestic violence and sexual assault) including but not limited to  providing legal counsel and representation in acquiring protective orders, spousal support, child custody, and child support, property divisions and decrees of divorce.  The attorney serves as liaison between the ECCC and the legal community, participates in community outreach activities, and works with staff towards effective service delivery and crisis response.  Background investigations will be conducted on all candidate finalists.

 

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director

ANNUAL SALARY:  $50,000

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with State Bar Association.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a JD degree or equivalent.    

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Three (3) years’ experience practicing law in Texas; with experience in family law and domestic violence issues.
  • Preference given to those persons bilingual in English and Spanish.
