Join Us and Recognize National Crime Victim’s Rights Week

Each April since 1981, Office for Victims of Crime has facilitated the annual observances of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) by promoting victims’ rights and honoring crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. To the founders of the victims’ rights movement, justice meant that all victims — regardless of geography, demographics, or financial status —would have the rights and services they need in the aftermath of a crime. Texans Celebrate Women’s Health Day

On March 20, The Texas Council on Family Violence commemorated the 2nd anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with a presentation of national and statewide speakers. The discussion highlighted the benefits of the ACA and the need for access to quality, affordable and comprehensive health care coverage for women, survivors of gender based violence and all residents of Texas and the United States. Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month

February 2012 is National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Now, for the first time, TCFV dedicates the entire issue of The River in observance. On the Road to Ending Domestic Violence

TCFV President Gloria Terry was honored to participate in Verizon’s Journey of Hope Tour in Dallas on October 28. HopeLine from Verizon and the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) teamed up for a cross-country bus tour, the Journey of Hope, to collect and share the stories of people affected by domestic violence and those who are passionate about ending it. The public was invited to join the tour in eight cities across the country to share their stories of hope and perseverance. Men at Work: Building Safe Communities

The TCFV BIPP Educational Series presents an exciting training provided by Men Stopping Violence (MSV). This training features MSV’s new curriculum: Men at Work: Building Safe Communities. Men at Work is an innovative and multi-disciplinary curriculum exploring male violence against women in an accessible manner, challenging men to take responsibility for their actions, and providing the educational experience necessary to become allies in ending violence against women.
