Activities

As part of the ACT work plan, we are facilitating Listening Projects–group discussions with youth around Texas to encourage, hear and support the ideas and concerns of young survivors to end family violence. This project supports young survivor activism by providing youth with an opportunity to network and share their experiences to inform and guide the work of ending domestic violence.

We have already completed four listening projects (in McAllen, Austin, and two locations in Houston) and have plans to do more this year. We have located volunteers for hosting listening projects at several family violence shelters, including New Horizon Family Center (Baytown), Montgomery County Women’s Center (The Woodlands), Houston Area Women’s Center (Houston), The Bridge Over Troubled Waters (Pasadena), and Matagorda County Women’s Crisis Center (Bay City). All volunteers are offered support, training and, if needed, a co-facilitator or an ACT facilitator.
