Dear Legislator,

I live in your district.
As neighbors, we must take family violence seriously where we live. I join the Texas Council on Family Violence and our local family violence center in supporting life saving services to family violence victims.

I support full funding of family violence services.
I know our state faces significant challenges in balancing the budget. I also know that cuts in family violence programs cause other costs to rise in our community. Law enforcement, the criminal and civil justice systems, and the business community all experience added costs in lives and dollars when those most in need have nowhere to turn due to cuts in funding.

Let’s band together.
We ask you to continue your commitment to full funding of family violence services for the sake of the 79,367 adults and children served by family violence shelters and resource centers in 2009 alone. In the coming months, keep a look out for purple bands (like the one to the right) which symbolize our common goal of attaining full funding and ending family violence in Texas.
