The 2011 Texas Legislative Session began on January 11, and with the opening gavel TCFV was ready for the work of advocating for family violence programs and survivors in Texas.

The Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) Policy Committee, comprised of talented domestic violence professionals, experts and survivors, worked diligently between Legislative Sessions to identify issues of great importance to the women, children, men and families of our state. Because of unique challenges posed this Session (such as anticipated budget cuts and redistricting) our primary focus will be maintaining level funding for family violence programs across the state. However, the Policy Committee also identified three subject areas which TCFV is bringing before the Legislature during this 82nd Session.
