What is a Family Violence Service Provider?
In Texas, there are over 100 family violence service providers. These providers are locally operated community-based nonprofit organizations that offer quality victim-centered services to survivors of family violence and their children. Texas family violence service providers may offer a variety of critical services such as 24-hour emergency shelter, non-residential services or advocacy. Services offered vary by community. For more information on a provider’s services, contact the local service provider.
All organizations listed in the Statewide Directory of Family Violence Service programs provided by the Texas Council on Family Violence are listed because they meet at least one of the following criteria:
- TCFV Members; or
- Funded by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Family Violence Program; or
- Funded by the Texas Criminal Justice Assistance Division (CJAD)
What is an HHSC Funded Program?
70 of the over 100 shelter centers and seven non-residential centers in Texas are funded by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Family Violence program. All HHSC funded programs must provide comprehensive services including but not limited to intervention services, safety planning and legal advocacy.
What is a Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP)?
Texas BIPPs provide quality and effective services to offenders of family violence. These programs are charged with promoting safety to victims of family violence and achieving social change necessary to eliminate family violence.
