Man suspected of throwing baby had domestic violence charges dropped

Tampa, FL — Severe domestic violence charges were recently dropped against Richard McTear, Jr. — the man suspected of throwing a 3-month old boy out of his car on I-275 after a domestic fight with his ex-girlfriend.
According to sheriff’s office records, McTear was arrested just over a year ago on allegations of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
A note in the aggravated assault record reads “KNIFE DOM VIOL”, indicating it was a domestic violence attack involving a knife.
