Statewide Development Director
The Statewide Development Director reports to the Chief Development Officer and works to strengthen the quality of services by providing financial support for operations. The Statewide Development Director has overall responsibility for developing, implementing and overseeing statewide fundraising goals, strategies and initiatives to ensure adequate financial support for all programs.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties
• Create, implement and update a complete two-year plan to maximize statewide and local fund raising opportunities for TCFV, with prescribed goals to increase revenues annually.
• Work with the Chief Development Officer and the Chief Executive Officer to create networking activities to identify and cultivate new prospects for major gifts and sources of support primarily for TCFV.
• Develop new ideas and avenues for raising funds among individuals, corporations and foundations that are cost-efficient, compliant with TCFV values, and are not in direct conflict or competition with member agencies.
• Create campaign structures and case statements for all statewide annual giving and special campaign fund raising. Work with other teams as appropriate to prepare annual budget. Oversee statewide fundraising budget, including monitoring expenditures and revenues, and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Develop customized corporate partnership agreements and promotions and oversee corporate relations and sponsorship programs that attract major gifts and on-going contributions, build friends, promote corporate alliances, and expand collaborative opportunities.
• Oversee grants development with foundations, government contracts and others.
• Seek collaborative opportunities with other agencies, corporate partners and community events that will raise funds and position the agency as a visible partner in solutions to domestic violence. Expand presence and activities statewide.
• Manage the agency’s ongoing relationships with donors, corporate partners and others.
• Supervise and oversee maintenance of the donor database, including prospects, donor acknowledgement and recognition.
• Ensure compliance with solicitation permit laws for state fundraising activities.
Job Title: Statewide Development Director
• Select, direct, develop and review performance of assigned staff. Recommend promotion or disciplinary action, including termination, in accordance with approved budget and established policies and procedures.
• May organize and train volunteers and plan social functions to raise funds and perform other duties to assist fundraising.
• Develop correspondence, reports and evaluations and respond to requests for information in a timely and effective manner.
• Remain current on professional, agency and legislative issues by reviewing and processing informational material in a timely manner.
• Participate in development and maintenance of internal systems for effective management of the organization, and assist in overall administration and operation of the agency.
• Facilitate problem resolution techniques that promote positive working relationships and strengthen internal management and effective team building.
• Assist as needed in national fundraising efforts.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added and/or changed at the discretion of the Chief Development Officer.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
• Proven record of successful creation of new and innovative fund-raising tactics and avenues appropriate for a statewide agency.
• Strong interpersonal, team building and management skills to effectively manage fundraising activities and elicit commitment to and advancement of TCFV’s mission and vision.
• Effective verbal communication skills suitable for group and/or media presentation; writing skills for creating appeal letters, case statements and major proposals, and publication of informational materials for internal and external distribution.
• Demonstrated management skills in fiscal procedures, budgeting and program development, implementation and measurement, and financial planning process.
• Demonstrated high integrity and fiduciary responsibility in managing resources.
• Thorough knowledge of domestic violence issues and circumstances faced by those experiencing domestic violence. Commitment to a nonviolent perspective and behavior and a willingness to work in such an environment.
• Ability to respond with sensitivity and awareness to those with diverse cultural, ethnic, social backgrounds, values, attitudes, and languages.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under tight and/or changing timelines; disciplined time management skills to coordinate and prioritize own and others’ activities, evaluate progress and provide feedback; and to reallocate resources to complete activities within set deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Job Title: Statewide Development Director
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing/Public Relations, human services, journalism, or related field. Or any combination of related education and experience with a documented record of the ability to perform duties and responsibilities of the position. (Equivalency formula: two years of experience is equal to one year of education.)
• A minimum of 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in fund development for not-for-profit organizations, preferably statewide or national in scope, plus a minimum of two years administrative experience in budgeting, hiring, supervising, and terminating employees.
Other Requirements/Working Conditions
• Must maintain the standards of confidentiality related to agency information, funders and other constituents.
• Ability to read, write and converse in English. Occasional public speaking and/or media work may be required.
• Availability to travel extensively and tolerate prolonged sitting or standing.
• Must have emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations, to effectively work long and at times odd hours, while maintaining a sense of humor.
• Works in a normal office environment, with minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature extremes, assuming incumbent observes all policies, procedures, safety precautions and regulations.
