Belmont Vice Mayor Bill Dickenson delayed pleas yesterday to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges stemming from allegations he knocked his former girlfriend and business partner to the ground while arguing inside the restaurant they co-own.

Dickenson, 44, appeared in court but did not enter a plea, citing the need to first hire a criminal attorney. A civil attorney had previously accompanied him to an interview at the District Attorney’s Office prior to the decision to charge him.
