Make it Real

The 2011 Make It Real: Building a Community Through Reflection prevention conference was has hosted June 1–2 in Bastrop, uniting professionals in the prevention field. The event provided both an opportunity for networking and collaboration, as well as thought-provoking presentations about a range of prevention topics.

Popular discussions at this year’s conference included how to maintain wellness in the workplace, tips for creating school-based primary prevention in rural communities and important emerging trends in the field. Voices Against Violence, a University of Texas interactive theater troupe led by Lynn Hoare, treated the attendees to a special performance that demonstrated the impact of performance in conjunction with prevention messaging.

We’d like to extend a warm thanks to our knowledgeable presenters and the conference attendees who made this year’s event such a success.
